How to find zen when the world as we know it is falling away?
Do you ever find yourself feeling like you’re on a hamster wheel? Just running, running, running but feeling like you’re getting nowhere at all??
Are you in constant tension in your solar plexus, with a feeling of suffocation most days?
In a society that is obsessed with pushing more and more, it is easy to get caught up in a life of constantly chasing goals and not even recognising where we are at right now and how much we have truly achieved. Trust me! I am very guilty of this more than I would like to admit.
Not that long ago I was in a place where so many horrible “things” were happening “to me”. I couldn’t even see past the forest and understand that what was happening was happening for me (more on that later). This time in my life really made me strip back the s%&* and dig deep into how I could find inner peace within ME.
Now with COVID-19 stripping back all our strength and courage these tools have become my focus to help me continue moving forward instead of wallowing in the energy engulfing our world...even if it is just 1 tiny step at a time.
Some of the tools I have used throughout my life to STOP, LISTEN and SLOW DOWN include:
🥰 PRACTICE GRATITUDE
Even if you think of just 3 things each day that you are grateful for. Trust me, it actually becomes easy.
For example, it can be as simple as:
Try not to overthink it. Make it simple and then it will be simple for you x
🙏 SAY “THANK YOU” FOR THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE
It may sound a little crazy but with my 4am starts most days, I wake up saying “thank you”. It starts off my day being grateful to be alive. I say thank you every step I take until I have finished getting ready. I love it. It really sets the mood for the day! That's not to say I don't sound like a crazy lady and at times I don’t feel like doing it but by the time I have finished my morning routine, I am totally grateful for the day ahead.
📞 PHONE A FRIEND
No, I’m not talking about calling a friend to help you win that million dollars.
However, surrounding yourself with like minded people that are going to raise you up is essential to keeping the zen in your life. Fill your life with people that matter, that truly love you for who you are. When you stop making time for anything else, you WILL feel enriched and your cup will be filled.
✍️ WRITE DOWN YOUR INTENTIONS
What is it that you truly want out of life? Write it down and read it every single day. Write it on your bathroom mirror. Put post notes all over your house. Sing it to the clouds even!! The more you focus on what you want, the easier it will come to you. THIS is how manifestation works AND taking action towards your goals too!
🧘♀️ TAKE TIME TO JUST SIT
Resting your body is just as important as working hard towards your goals. What is your favourite pass time to relax? Read a book, have a nap, watch some trashy TV, workout? Fill each day with a little something that will just fill your happiness cup that little bit more.
THINGS HAPPEN FOR YOU NOT TO YOU!
Now, this is so much easier to say than to believe, I know but stick with me here….
Sometimes you stop what you really want by not letting go of it. Make the intention and let go of it…sometimes horrible things will happen but there is a lesson in it that will help you grow and, dare I say, bring an even greater opportunity your way.
When you choose to live with the belief that things really do happen for you and not to you, you can create miracles in every moment, in every day. You can move into a place of happiness and total zen when you let go of your emotions (angry, hurt or sad). When you appreciate the moment for what it is – a lesson, a test, an opportunity to say ‘aha’, then you win. Always. You will never be a victim to your circumstances again! Imagine what incredible calmness that will bring your life ❤️
This of course is a very simple guide to slow down and smell the roses. Sometimes it’s not all that easy to see the good in life, but when you are only focusing on what is great around you, all the other stuff just melts away.
Love and light to you all xx
